HTB Leadership Conference

One of the absolute highlights of our time in London so far was being lucky enough to attend the HTB Leadership Conference. We had wanted to attend last year, but being relatively new to the church, we didn’t get organized in time. Following the success and popularity of last year’s conference, this years tickets sold out while we were back in Australia, and so we missed out. We were pretty disappointed.

Until….

We got an email asking if we would like to join the team of volunteers helping to support the conference.

We jumped at the opportunity.

It turned out to be a massive win. Volunteering basically involved standing on the streets of South Kensington in pink t-shirts with big foam fingers, directing the 6000-odd delegates to the various venues for a few short shifts across the two days of the conference. In return, we got three meals a day, free roam of the Royal Albert Hall, access to all the conference sessions, and the chance to be a part of an incredibly supportive and loving team of volunteers. We got a bit of an insight into to what it must have been like to be a volunteer at the Olympics.

Aside from all that, and perhaps most importantly, the conference was incredible – easily the best that we have ever been to. The sessions were both practical and inspiring, and the worship struck a great balance, being of the highest quality and truly spirit lead. We left feeling rejuvenated and blessed.

Oh…and it would be remiss not to mention, one of the perks of roaming the Royal Albert Hall was that we got to sneak into the Queen’s private box. All the boxes are privately owned by debenture holders, so HTB wrote to them all – including the Queen – to request access for the conference. She kindly obliged.

It was such as special two days.
